The purpose of this site is to provide genealogical information pertaining to family members.  If you have additional information please contact Robert Orta using the email address below.  Please let other family members know about this web site.

After spending some time searching http://familysearch.org I managed to find a baseline for our family tree.  Unfortunately, the tree ends abruptly on my mothers side (Annie Holcomb), for she was adopted.  Supposedly, the records pertaining to her were lost because the courthouse where her birth was recorded (Brown, TX) burned and no records were recovered.

EARLY ORTA FAMILY

The early Orta family originated in Mexico and migrated to the Phoenix/Tucson Arizona area sometime during the early 1800's. Many of these early descendents later moved to California in the 1900's. You can see a good early generation tree listing by clicking here. This is   a good place to look and see if you are related to this Orta clan. If you don't find any familiar names, then you can view the family tree as it relates to Robert Orta on the Tree. The webmaster has additional information and names if you think you may be related, but don't see a familiar name send me an email

Earlier this year (1999) we discovered that Manuel Orta Jr. had a marriage prior to his marriage to Annie Holcomb. Manuel's first wife's name was Elisa Sanchez. Elisa was born in Mexico 6/14/1906 to Miguel M. Sanchez and Regula Angulo. At some point she met Manuel Orta Jr., they married and lived in Phoenix Arizona. They had seven children - six lived. Their names were: Bill, Arthur, Carl, Dora, Esther, and Ophelia. Later, Manuel and Elisa were divorced and Elisa moved to Brawley California to live with her children. Some time later she and her children moved to the Los Angeles California area, where she open and ran a successful restaurant. Elisa passed away during June 1990 in Los Angeles County.

Manuel Orta's children from Elisa and Annie were never aware of the others existence. Due to a death of Bill Orta on October 29, 1996, Robert G. Orta had an opportunity to meet Arthur Michael Orta during October 1999. The visit was a pleasant one for the half brothers and their wives.
