This is the bunkroom that the Sonarmen slept in on the USS Rogers.  The bunks were 3 and sometimes 4 high.  We slept on a thin cotton mattress that rested on a piece of canvas strung on an aluminum frame.

Robert spent over 20 year in the US Navy.  At this point in his career he was a Second Class (E-5) Sonar Technician.  Later in his career he was promoted to Chief Warrant Officer 2nd (CWO2).  By the time he retired he had attainted the rank of   Chief Warrant Officer 3rd (CWO3).
